The official website for Panos Ioannidis, a Greek chef, a businessman and a judge in the Greek TV program, “Masterchef”.

THE REQUEST

The initial thought was to create a website to host the chef’s bio as well as his proposed recipes. After consideration, the chef needed a place to also share his knowledge, tips & tricks and articles from experts making it easier for everyone to get familiar with gastronomy.

The website hosts the chef’s bio, recipes, a gastronomy dictionary, tips & how-to, news, videos, collaboration, articles from experts and also extended filters, search functionality and a custom user system, making it a portal.

OUR SOLUTION

We built a robust CMS based on WordPress, customized to meet the project’s needs. The client and his team can manage recipes, articles, tutorials, videos and all of the above content and list user’s voting and number of likes.

We built a custom user system where the user can create an account in order to interact with the website content. The logged in user can save any article to his list such as a recipe, tutorial, video, etc, like an article and also vote for a recipe.

PANOS IOANNIDIS

When the users sees the list of recipes he is able to filter the results by a list of categories/subcategories, time needed and difficulty. He is also able to select multiple terms to narrow down the results.

The user is also able to change the order of the recipes by newest first, most rated and popularity.

The users are able to create an account on the site.
Logged in users can save a recipe, a post, a video or any kind of content in their favorites and in their "read later" list.

For each recipe the user can change the portions for the ingredients and select a measurement unit between grams and oz.
At the bottom of the page a list of related recipes is automatically shown, according to the main category of the recipe.

A logged-in user can rate a recipe between 1 and 5 stars. Each recipe shows the overall rating set by the users.

The logged-in user is able to see a list of all the recipes that he has rated.
He can also search among the rated recipes.

The logged-in user can also view his lists: his favorites and his "read later" list.
For each page he is able to narrow down the results by searching or selecting the type: all, recipes, gastropedia, dictionary, news and videos.

The admin can set multiple categories that can host subcategories. This way it is easier for the user to find what he is looking for.

For the Gastropedia section, the user can select to filter the results. The filters open in a popup, allowing the user to see a full list of categories & subcategories. He is able to select any of those categories to filter the results.

The site has a mega-menu where the user can have a quick, clear overview of all categories.
The admin can select to add a banner or the right or have the mega menu expanding to take up the full width.

The website, as always, is responsive.
The homepage shows a completely different content than the desktop version, in order to be more optimized and more to the point, avoiding endless scroll.
